With 9 days to go before the Olympic Games open in Tokyo, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga met with International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach this afternoon. Yuan Chenyue has more.

东京奥运会即将开幕，日本首相菅义伟于7月14日与国际奥委会主席托马斯·巴赫举行会谈。

Bach said the goal is to stage a safe and secure games for the athletes, delegations①, and local population of the host country. Suga promised that adequate precautions will be in place.

巴赫强调，应将保障运动员、代表团和当地居民的安全作为本届奥运会的重要目标。菅义伟承诺采取充分的预防措施。
